VOLKL 26/27 BLAZE 94
Description
The Blaze 94 is what we like to call “sporty”. It delivers on many levels, but it is made for the high octane delight of a skier that loves to turn on a dime, in every type of terrain. The 0.3mm thick layer of titanal across the binding platform creates an impressively direct power transfer from skier movement to ski action. Keeping the titanal only under the foot creates an incredibly fun and responsive turning experience, immediately from initiation, with little effort.
Although it is designed with short turn radius goals, the 4 Radius Drive Sidecut and Hybrid Multilayer Woodcore significantly enhances the ski's liveliness and maneuverability for any turn shape. At only a very low weight and with the addition of the Suspension Tip and Tail (basically a rubbery “bumper” for whatever the ski comes in contact with), it is a fantastic touring ski as well. Regardless of resort skiing glory, off piste endeavors, or backcountry objectives, the Blaze 94 offers an incredibly wide range of use in all conditions.
Ski bindings are not included as part of this purchase. Because bindings must be properly set for each individual rider based on size, ability level, and equipment, Volkl does not mount bindings prior to shipment. All bindings must be mounted, adjusted, and tested by an authorized retailer prior to use.
FEATURES
Includes Binding: No
Recommended Marker Binding: GRIFFON X 13 105MM BLACK; 7920Y1.FS ALPINIST FREE 13 105MM BLACK - SILVER
Binding Plate Premounted: No
TECHNOLOGY
Ski Profile - Tip & Tail Rocker
Character: Bends up only in the shovel and tail zones, with a camber shape in the middle
Tip & Tail Technology - Suspension Tips & Tails
Inserts made of elastic TPU material on the edges of the tip and tail which act like a bumper in wind-blown or tracked snow. Its shock-absorbing elasticity ensures better stability and catch-free float.
Metal - Titanal Binding Platform
A thin Titanal layer (0,3 mm) under the binding delivers the necessary strength to the ski. This way the binding screws offer reliable hold even in the toughest conditions.
Radius - 4 Radius Drive
A Völkl innovation not yet offered by any other manufacturer. With this technology, Völkl sets a new benchmark for the ability to vary the turn radius and combine easy handling with rock-solid stability. This new design provides maximum versatility for various snow conditions both on piste and off piste, increased stability on hard surfaces, and improved performance on soft snow.
Radius 1:
Approx. 20 m in the frontmost 10 centimeters
A tighter radius only in the shovel to achieve a more immediate response to the skier‘s initial edge movement; maximum precision and agility
Radius 2:
Approx. 40 m in the area between the shovel and the binding. The open radius in the front part of the ski gives the ski more resistance to disturbances and stability at speed
Radius 3:
Approx. 15 m in the area under the binding
The tight radius in the camber area provides the ski with more agility even with slight edge movements of the skier, ensuring the necessary buildup of dynamics for short turns and radical carving curves.
Radius 4:
Approx. 25 meters in the area behind the binding up to the ski end. The moderate radius at the ski end ensures controlled and situation-adapted dynamics at the end of the turn and provides optimal support for transitioning into the next curve.
Sidewall - Full Sidewall ABS
ABS is a durable and resilient plastic known for its strength and impact resistance. It offers high resistance to shocks and impacts, making the ski more robust and long-lasting. These sidewalls allow for precise power transfer from the skier to the edges of the ski.
Glass / Carbon - 3D.GLASS
Compared to classic glass constructions the three-dimensional and multiple-folded glass layers in the tip and in the tail area result in an increased edge grip and a more vivid rebound behavior in turns.
3D.Glass Integrated in the Ski Tip and Tail:
‣Flat glass under the binding making the center softer. Variable turning at any speed.
Glass Above Sidewall:
‣Providing additional support for superior edge grip on icy slopes.
Vertical Glass in Tip & Tail:
‣More pop for faster edge to edge changes.
Base Material - Base P-Tex 2100
A sintered high-density and high molecular polyethylene base with great gliding characteristics and high durability
Base Structure - Brushed
A superficial and shallow structure matches with wide skis and their bigger bearing face. Made for optimum agility with less catching and easier, smoother turning characteristics.
Core - Hybrid Multilayer Woodcore
The extra-light hybrid multilayer wood core is a very complex core that is used in the Blaze. Light and very stable poplar and beech woods, individually weighed and selected by weight before gluing, are used in this wood core. In the tip-to-tail construction, the wood extends to the tip of the blade and end, giving them the sophisticated combination of good stability and low weight. In the center of the core, a CNC-milled Isocore area contributes to optimal liveliness and dynamic development. All in all, this design allows the stability of the ski to meet the high demands of a freeride ski, and this at a weight that is only slightly higher than that of a touring ski.
Biobased Resin
The biobased resin system contains 41% biobased carbon content. The renewable carbon content is physically present in the final resin system and is measured using radiocarbon (C14) analysis, verified according to ASTM D6866 by an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory. The resin system represents approximately 19% of the net ski weigh.
